While funny, The Watchmen’s lasting value is as a profound demonstration of how comics are a unique medium for telling a story. The Watchmen, more than any comic I’ve ever read, uses the medium to do something that cannot be achieved in prose, radio, film, theater, or really any other form of artistic expression.
The Watchmen is what made me realize that a comic can not only be serious, but also be the ideal way to tell a certain story.
In which the real spirit of The Watchmen is revealed.
I know it might’ve been good for its time, but that doesn’t just make it good.
